There are more and more searches showing thumbnails before normal SERPs. The thumbnails are from Thumbshots.org. biggrin.gif Does anybody else see this?

Hi newsphinx. I'm not seeing those thumbnails using google.ca. However things often seem to take a few weeks longer to get there than they do for google.com.

I think this is only for sites listed in DMOZ....
Even so... I still cant see them in Serps.

I just added it to my website...

Check out the cre8asiteforums.com listing in our links section:-

Hi, Barry. I am not seeing this in my office too. Their only appear when I search at home. I am using Firefox. Google may be testing if that will improve clicks or something else?

No. That's not true. I have seen urls not listed in DMOZ with a thumbnail too.

This is my first thread reporting something new instead of asking questions. I am glad that Admin and Mod reply my post. biggrin.gif

Good catch newsphinx smile.gif

It looks like Google is testing new SERP ideas out.

Thanks, newsphinx - not seeing that over here yet either (UK). To be completely honest though, I think it's a bad idea for Google. One of their main strengths is their speed, and screenshots will slow things down. And it adds no actual value, that I can tell (though if I am missing something perhaps someone could enlighten me?).

Isn't it something that MSN were showing off a little while ago?

I could see it being partly useful, it would make certain crappy pages look very obvious and thus people wouldn't bother clicking on them.

I think you'd start getting a lot of people who would be designing their site and testing how it looks at 80px X 60px(or however large it is) as well to check it would look ok for thumbnails. People could really start basing part of their decision about which site to visit based on the general look of that image.

Seems very un-google like. Can this be adware?

Tell Google to stop! Ask Jeeves tried this with something they called Binoculars™ Site Preview Tool, where you moused over these little binoculars and it would show you a thumbnail. For some reason, i don't see them anymore. However, I do have a screen shot at my blog entry named Ask's Binoculars Show Poor Representation. I personally don't like it at Google, if they are doing this and if they are listening, I think, you should stop this. smile.gif
