If you have 8 minutes, you may want to see Where Google is going. It's a lookback from the year 2014.

Tip of the hat to brand autopsy.

Today, in 2014, the New York Times has gone off line. In feeble protest, the Times has become a print only newsletter for the elite and elderly.

Will news and media be disseminated online?

This may be a wake-up call for existing news mediums. I predict that long before the fictiional scenario quoted above happens. News mediums will set precedence in that they own their own information feeds and that google and others will be liable for copyriight infringement in obtaining any leads without permission.

EPIC is a summary of the world, deeper, broader and more nuanced than anything ever available before. But at its worst, and for too many, EPIC is merely a collection of trivia, much of it untrue, all of it narrow, shallow stand sensational. But EPIC is what we wanted, is what we chose and its commercial success preempted any discussions of media and democracy or of journalistic ethics.

This is what we wanted right? Of course! biggrin.gif I predict that other companies will be in the market other than google with much more sophisticated and advanced search possibilites that we can fathom.

Besides a collection of trivia and info beyond our imagination...

The computer will be much more advanced in many other ways by the year 2014. I think all billing and most monetary transactions will be done on the computer by then. You wouldn't even be able to assume a mortgage without computer access to set up payment and such.
