...or whatever it was smile.gif

http://dance.efactory.de/ now shows that all datacenters have the same index (apparently...if its an automated thing the wierd goings on might not be taken into account) and backlinks to Yahoo.com are all the same.

mind you i'm still seeing "odd things" going on regarding positioning of my sites in www, www2, www3.

:?

There will always be ranking variances across the www, w2, and w3's because of the freshbot stuff getting constantly injected. That's called "Everflux".

And yes, right now, all the datacenters are reporting the same things right now so it looks like the dance is over. There have been a few times in this last dance though where a datacenter has appeared to be caught up, then reverts back, so we may not be out of the woods, yet.

Well i don't know what went on, but i seem to have gained any extra PR i went from 4 to 5, i've climbed to 2nd when u use "CoolChip" and about half way down on "Computing Forums", so i'm happy.

although i seem to have lost all my backlinks.

nah i don't think its Everflux. in www2 and www3 one of my sites has two "second-level" (one link down from homepage) pages appearing in about 68th/69th place on my main 2 word keyphrase (it's in every title of the sites pages as branding). no homepage wierdly.

the homepage IS indexed in www2 and www3 ( i checked with a more definite search string) but simply doesn't rank like it should normally - it's 4th in google www at present.

i believe this is something to do with PR calculation / backward links as it's a newish site (well a few months old) and has few backward links.

Remember, they're also playing with "Local Rank" which actually reranks the top X (I'd guess 10 or 20) listings on the fly. Not sure where they are in that experimentation, but they could be playing something new with that right now as well.

Everflux, on its own, can also have drastic effect on top page rankings because if you have a "fresh" version of your page, it doesn't replace the "main" version of your page, they actually live there together. This can really fish things up for certain terms. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.

I too, am seeing better PR for some of the client we look after.

Our company site went up a PR to 5 (was 5 before a redesign a few months ago).

A client's site has creeped to a PR 5 as well. It has never held a rank of that before (highest last month was 4).

Sure does seem odd.

The page rank on my Studies index page went from 5 to 6. However, except for that page and my Beagles index page, all of my other pages are now not ranked AT ALL!

I had a page rank of 6 on my home page, not bad for a personal site. Now nothing. Did that everflux thing mess me up because I repeatedly edited my site and replaced every page many times each the past couple of months? If so, then why are the Studies page and the Beagles page not affected?

Pachy,

I put one of the buttons from your clickable charities page on the front page of my personal site. That's an excellent directory. Nice stuff.

1) If this dance is over, than I'm a little bit sad. Like what I had posted before in another topic "wierd dance", I lost one important term "international callback" for my site. It was #2 before the dance, and now it went nowhere -- can't find on any page. The other key term "callback service", which weighs a little bit more, is not put up to #1.
Could some experts here see the problem I have encountered with the first search term?

2) By the way, according to Yahoo!, both terms made me #1. Since Yahoo uses Google, how come Yahoo! did not drop me for the first search term?

3) Extremely weird again!!! Just went back to http://www.google-dance-tool.1hut.com/ and check where my site is with first search term "international callback", I saw it showed up on www and www2 as #1 (Hell! Where did it go a while ago?), and missing on www3. Here, weird, weird, and weird --- I am in Canada, and google.ca now finds me on #1 with this first term (Jesus! This can only last for minutes and then disappears. Then it may come back in an hour or two!). This time, I am truly in the adventure park with Google's Dance!

Definitely the best quote of the thread. smile.gif We're all in the roller coaster carts along with you.

1. This is a new dance, unlike previous ones. As you've seen from odd fluctuations, it's really not over, regardless of what some of the google dance tools may say. I've heard (googleguy) statements that say this may be going on for weeks.

2. While Yahoo uses Google data, it doesn't always use the latest data. It takes a little while before Yahoo reflects what is in Google. Can't tell you when that will happen.

3. Something new. In a few weeks, we'll see where we are in Google.

In the meantime, work on improving your site or your business in ways that don't depend upon Google. Stuff like usability, and making the site an enjoyable place for visitors to come. See if you have accessibility features in place.

What would your business do if Google closed tomorrow? Don't panic, but think about the positive steps you could take. And then take some of them. And when Google comes back, your business will be that much stronger.

I'm getting an unexpected surprise from Google, an increase in visitors, granted they aren't going to the parts of my site as i want them to but they're still coming.

Excellent news! Especially in light of the recent oddness of the toolbar pagerank.

If they visit one part, they may visit the others. smile.gif

Congratulations, by the way, on passing a hundred posts. It's been a pleasure so far. Keep them coming.
