QUOTE

Available at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/resources, the service and content offering includes about 1,000 articles from sources like Inc. Magazine and Entrepreneur.com on topics ranging from marketing and legal to finance and human resources.

Yahoo already sells a variety of small business offerings including Internet domain names, Web hosting services, e-mail and e-commerce services.

The new service, which is envisioned as a one-stop site for small business operators, would also give Yahoo's ad sales force a way to sell graphical advertising to large advertisers that want to reach the 25 million-plus small businesses in the United States.

\"It's way for us to create a great opportunity for our advertisers who are trying to reach the small business segment,\" said Rich Riley, vice president and general manager of Yahoo Small Business Services.

Is this Yahoo reaching out to small business' (while gaining targeted marketing for themselves). Smart marketing tool for Yahoo.

What is your take on this?

I agree with you, Donna. It's a very smart marketing move. I had not visited this Yahoo! subdomain before. I did and wandered around in there. It seems to have very complete answers for everything, so why go anywhere else once you've found it. With a name like Yahoo! that you trust, I'm sure that lots of practical business persons wanting to just get the job done will find this is the solution.

If I had to suggest an alternative, I'm not sure that I would know of a better place although there are lots of competitive websites for this.

Fascinating resource. I wonder what inspired Yahoo to put these pages up, beyond the notion that "content is king."

A pretty good approach from a search marketing perspective, though not one that they note within their Search Engine Marketing Overview

There are some pretty good articles in their section on Search Engine Marketing, and in their larger category of Sales & Marketing.
