Why Would goolge bother to include a PR for page that you don't want in the index... Seems odd to me...

I can only assume that google feels that this "noindex" might change thus give it a rank...

Any opinions ?

The more accurate assumption, I think, would be that Tool Bar PR is grossly inaccurate.

When the TB comes to a page not in its index, it tries to "estimate" the PR based on other pages from the site that are in its index. It's a guess on top of a conjecture on top of last month's approximation. smile.gif

My first thought is that the "noindex" tag often seems to be ignored by google (and other SE's).

My 2nd thought is - indexed or not - if the page has incoming links it will accumulate PR!

gabs: "Why Would goolge bother to include a PR for page that you don't want in the index... Seems odd to me..."

When the Google indexer parses pages and find a link to a page it adds it the anchors file. The URLresolver generates a database of links from the anchors file and it is this database that is use to compute Pagerank.

That is how a page that is set to noindex can geat a real PR value assigned to it and hence a exported toolbar PR value.
