Hi,

I ran across this today. I have not tried it as of yet, but it looks very interesting:

Bullfighter

I've read about, and heard about this before, but didn't try it out either.

Maybe it's time for a test run.

Maybe we can get a number of people to try it out, and share thoughts and opinions on it.

Anyone interested?

I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow when I can use a broadband connection to download it.

I can't test it - the machine I wanted to test it on uses Win98 since its the system I also use for games (and Win98 is the most widely compatible for games still). sad.gif

Caissa, I tried Bullfighter and I like it. It's a text analysis tool by Deloitte Touche to get the bull out of business language.

I'm using Word 2000 on Windows XP and had only minor glitches as I installed it. I find it is sometimes difficult to check a whole series of documents one after another. However if I closed Word and reopened it, then I could always check a document immediately and sometimes it worked after closing the document and opening another. The documentation says it will not work with more than one Word document open.

How good is it? I checked a number of my recent newsletters and got only two instances of possible bull.

The first was on the word: Strategic

It gave me the following message:
"A real word, but overused to the point where it sounds like hyperbole. Just because something has no short-term, immediate value doesn't mean it's strategic."

Since my company name is SMM Strategic Marketing Montreal, it's a little late for me now.

The second was on the phrase: best practices

"Cliche, with a hint of arrogance and a dash of pompousness. Use it sparingly. A minor bull foul."

I checked the usage and felt it was OK. Another forum has recently changed its name to incorporate this phrase. I rather liked it there too.

Overall I will leave it installed and will be checking future documents.

Interesting! I'm downloading it now.

<edit> Whoops! I can't. I'm still a Win98 user. </edit>
