One's fame depends on how many people think of you when they hear "SEO Expert".
I bet most will either recall Danny Sullivan, Aaron Wall, Rand Fishkin, Ammon Johns (not in any order) but not Bill.
However, I do think of Bill when I hear 'patent' or 'Google patent' wink-2.gif

Thanks.

The interview was a lot of fun, and Aaron asked some really good questions.

I'm thinking of interviewing some folks for a local blog that I am working on, and one of the things I thought about a lot while responding to Aaron's questions was "what makes a good interview question?"

What do you want to read when you come across an interview? What is it that you want people to ask? Anyone have some good tips on how to conduct an interview?

I think you should envisage how you would guess the interview might best flow from what you know of the interviewee. Then you might ask the interviewee what areas they would really like to talk about, without any commitment that you will take the conversation that way. Looking at these two possible visions of the interview, you could then decide what is the best 'flow' you can get by combining the two.

The questions then will naturally appear. Of course, it's always got to be spontaneous. So 'on the day', the conversation may go in quite a different direction because of hot topics of the day or whatever. However by having gone through different possible scenarios, you've best tuned your mind to take it in a good direction.

I notice you suggested coming to Cre8asite to shake Bill's hand - do we have fancy new tactile features in the forum now? smile.gif

I took the "lesser known" comment kind of personally smile.gif Ranted a bit on SEOmoz about that.

while he may not be quite as well read as some other folks

That made me laugh, Rand - I suspect Bill reads more than anyone I know... Then my slow functioning brain figured out what you actually meant tongue.gif !

I'm surely glad to see you getting all this attention, Bill!

Funny how we are so protective of Bill, isn't it Rand? I had a blast picking on Danny Sullivan when he announced that he added Bill to his army of blog writers. In MY blog, I signaled Danny with an "I FOUND HIM FIRST!" statement.

Kim did a really nice job of putting together a number of ideas here. Really good one, Kim:

Google Changes Its Mind. Page Rank is Back.

Excellent tie in with the email filtering from Google, and the use of contextual context with a link.

The interview was fun, Aaron asked some pretty good questions, and it generated a few comments over at Aaron's blog, and in some other places, and led to some nice posts and comments from other folks in other places.

Appreciate the thoughts about interviews, Barry. I need to brush up on the background of the subject a little (wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.)

Thanks, everyone.
