As always, high PR does not mean good trusted site. There are still lots of ways of spoofing PR.

If the site you are buying links from ranks high in SERPs and you think the search engines consider that site a trusted site, then yes those links are more valuable than links you can get from a less trusted site (typically with a lower PR).

This is a bit more tricky. For the most part no, it does not matter where the website server is hosted when buying links.

However, if you have a .com site with out a country code... and you receive a lot of links, or say you buy a lot of links from Canadian websites, .com.ca, then you potentially have a chance of ranking better in the Canadian SERPs because it seems as though your site may also benefit Canadians.

I think you're caught up on the hosted part.

Where the server is hosted really has very little to do with it.

If you have a website: www.mysweetsite.com and you get backlinks from websites like www.bbc.co.uk and www.telegraph.co.uk, and have a lot of .co.uk backlinks, then www.mysweetsite.com will rank better in www.google.co.uk and the sort.... even though www.mysweetsite.com is not www.mysweetsite.co.uk

Another example would be searching for "phone" from the UK or within one of the search engines that is specific to the UK, you'll see that www.bt.com comes up quite high because it has a lot of .co.uk backlinks, where as www.bt.com actually doesn't rank very high here in the US.

On another note: A slight disclaimer:

Remember that buying link or selling links in order to directly manipulate search engine rankins are against most major search engine guidelines.

With that being said, lots of people do it anyhow. Even major companies that are "white hat" shops.

Well convincing your employeer that it's not a myth is a different discussion altogether.

If you have a .co.uk domain you're already on your way of having a better advantage in the UK search market. If you receive links from .co.uk sites than yes, it will benefit your site from the stand point of the UK search market. It makes more sense that you would have more .co.uk backlinks unless your company provides global services.

From the sound of your question, I fear that you are looking for a simple answer and may not appreciate the complexity of buying links and more important the risks.

I'd suggest you do some more reading around the forums and know what you are getting into before diving in head first.

You'll want to determine what your objective is in buying links (it shouldn't be purely to increase search engine rankings), who you are buying links from (this is very important because you could potentially be doing more harm than good), and ultimately is this a sound investment and will it be ROI positive?
