Recent newsletter from Search Engine Land - Danny Sullivan

I said earlier that I, Chris Sherman and Barry Schwartz would be writing here on Search Engine Land when it formally launches on December 11. I'm happy to now add that we'll be working with correspondents: Phil Bradley,>>Bill Slawski <<, Jennifer Slegg, Brian Smith, and Greg Sterling. We're glad to have them aboard! They'll be joining us from our launch date and contributing items in their areas of coverage, which are:

Thanks, Lee and Rand

I wouldn't have suspected, when I joined the blogging team at Search Engine Watch earlier this year, that I would be leaving before the end of the year, and feel good about it.

When Danny announced that he would be leaving a couple of months ago, I'm not sure that he had a new blog and site in mind, at least not so quickly. He asked me if I would be interested last week at Pubcon, and I told him yes, but I thought it might be a good idea to let him make an announcement when he was ready to do so.

I'm not privy to many of the details that Danny has in mind for the site, but I've heard one or two that sound interesting. I'm going to leave those for the launch of the site.

Just remember to print in block capitals in case they don't understand your joiny-up writing! tongue.gif

Danny always delivers with timely quality content and with Bill and the crew onboard it looks like SEL will be no different. (Woo, first use of a brand-spanking new acronym! )

SEW (and its forums) already had a relatively small readership, so this looks like the knockout blow.

I was thinking that a few months back, and out of nowhere, had someone who fits that description email me out of nowhere. We now get together every Wednesday around lunchtime and plot and scheme brainstorm on how to take over the world wide web new business ideas.

I don't think that there are any rules against having more than one "eager, sort of young, skinhead with big ears as your SEO apprentice/Side Kick."

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking forward to the launch.

ps. It was great meeting Donna at Pubcon, and we managed to get drinkbaited together.

Barry posted about the move from Search Engine Watch to Search Engine Land at Search Engine Roundtable, and his thoughts about the migration here:

Danny Sullivan & Crew Moves From SE Watch to SE Land

One of the most valuable aspects of being involved this group of people that I've found is that they have a remarkable perspective on the news and changes in the search landscape.

I'm not sure what will happen at Search Engine Watch in the future, and there's been very little official discussion about that. But I am looking forward to the launch of the new site.

<warning inside joke alert>
Don't forget us 'little people' that kept you up past your bedtime telling you ghost stories at conventions.

Good luck star! kicking.gif

Thanks, Michael.

That's the most entertaining part of conferences - gathering around and talking with folks in the hotel bar about search marketing or ghost stories or whatever. Your tales were pretty much like the TV series on now - Supernatural. Definitely good ones.

Another medal for your site and great work, Bill:

* Best search patent blog:
SEO by the SEA. This category will be summarily given to Bill Slawski for a five year term, barring a major shake-up.

Well deserved!

That's a nice surprise to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Thanks for pointing it out, John.

Then again, it might be easy to be the Best search patent blog when you're the only one (at least that I know of). smile.gif

Much better than being called the Worst search patent blog though.

Come on Bill, don't be so humble smile.gif -- your posts on the patents are the first things I read in my RSS reader, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for your great work!
