Perhaps google should have used an alternative domain for google page hosting (like yahoo uses geocities.com). Use googlepages.com url on ads and people might just assume the ad is by google ... an ad I came across in my gmail:
Satellite view of Earth Satellite Maps of Your House in 3D Get maps of London, Maui, SF or NY earth.satellite.map.googlepages.com => http://earth.satellite.map.googlepages.com/ |

What about if the page linked to was just showing affiliate links or Adsense referral URLs? Well, that's what it is -- an Adsense page for "Google Pack" referrals, which pay $2.00 per download (and install).
QUOTE We are not a part of Google & are offering this free service as fans of Google Earth to educate the public Yeah sure She's just buying keywords cheaper than their average income -- it'll work until enough people do the same. And yes, I bet she's speculating that the "googlepages" URL brings her advantages that other sites wouldn't have. The Google referral payouts seem to bring strange pages out - things like http://katesnotes.com/firefox-download-now/ are almost too sneaky (IMHO) in their attempt to look official. But you gotta give her points for creativity - jump on the idea when you see it, make it happen and ride the initial rush John |
