USA Today has just done a big revamp of their site. They've gone and just added a boatload of Social Media features.

From Digg like "recommend" story buttons, and most popular pages ... to creating a scaled down Myspace like clone, it's got some pretty neat features.

Take a look at the New USA Today Features

Some very cool stuff, very modern.

LOL... other than the AJAXy ones when you sign up - Firefox stopped all mine smile.gif

but yeah, pretty cool eh? A lot of industry folks are talking about this from saying "its too much too soon" to saying "USA didn't go far enough".

After looking around and playing with the system a bit, I think it's just about right. It's meant to target the USA today audience - those folks most likely know what myspace is and how it works. Those folks clamoring for more that they didn't go far enough, are techie geeks - only those people who know what RSS is would clamor for that!

I say they should add it, but what they have now is great!

It looks like there are going to be many more sites taking the social route. I think that is the only route they can take if they want to keep up with the growing marketing.

Social Media sites are becoming every so much popular so why not also join it.
