Hello

I'm looking for freelance writers for a number of travel websites that we run and would appreciate advice/tips on how best to find them. We currently have around 40 or so working for us, doing varying amounts (from working full time to only a few hours a week).

Problem is we need good writers that are inexpensive. And yes, before you give me the old adage "you get what you pay for", I do appreciate that. I have tried really cheap and got rubbish. From a financial feasibility point of view, though, what I need to do is find a happy medium - good, inexpensive writers are out there (I'm already working with quite a few) but I don't find them easy to find...

Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Hello altyfc,

I might have a suggestion, or two, if I knew what you consider "inexpensive. A $ per article/length, or some such would help. We have used many writers in the past with varying skills at various rates, but some sort of starting point would help to know what you are looking for.

Thanks,
Doc

Thanks for the replies everybody, and to those that PMed me.

Doc... the job in hand basically entails re-writing existing text so that it is unique. I have tens of thousands of "pieces" each around 40-75 words in length that need re-writing to pieces that are anything from 70-90 words in length. This can usually be done with the existing text but in some cases a quick Google search (for which a link to the relevant search term is automatically supplied in our admin interface) might be required in order to assist in reaching the total. For each piece, I pay 40 pence (about $0.80 USD).

Respree... you have a better memory than me. I'd forgotten I'd posted that. My query this time around is in fact for a different project, but in essence the question is the same so apologies for that.

Khalid... I added you to my MSN Messenger so perhaps we can "speak" via that some time.

Hello,

I needed writing done for a new website of mine and I couldn't believe the great quality of writing I got from people I hired through Elance. I couldn't decide who to pick, so I selected 5 writers and gave them each 2-3 articles each. I provided them with the keyword phrases to use. They were all great. I had a retired teacher and a recent graduate student and other experienced, quality people. I paid from 1.5 cents per word to $.10.
