I've written to four companies regarding SEO services for Russia, i.e. for the Yandex search engine. None of them wrote back. I didn't think my emails were so ugly wink.gif

This "project" I've launched has shaped up to be something pretty serious, but the Russian site is not getting the traffic it deserves. The little I already know is that basically we need a totally separate SEO effort for the Yandex search engine to get listed there at all.

Can anyone recommend a decent, and not too horrifically expensive, SEO service for russia?

thanks!

Have you contacted Yandex?

They should beable to provide you with some general ideas as to the requirements... if so, we can all have a play at taking them apart for you (so long as they are translated... I have problems with English, let alone other languages).

Looking around on line, it is possible to contat their technical department... and they do help (Google, pay attention to the Rusky's!!!!)

What an amazing idea. Ask them :-)

Google is so incredibly opaque that the thought of asking Yandex never once crossed my mind :-D

thanks for pointing out the obvious. We all need that sometimes!

Not obvious really - trying to get hold of any "large" body is normally a pain... but looking around the net for you, I saw that Yandex is still in the early stages... which means it still gives a damn and can still do a damn about things... unlike certain others.... which may not care and simply cannot do for everyone (as there are too many of us biggrin.gif).

So yes... try asking them for help... and see if they have their own support forums or groups... if not... maybe you could be one of hte first?

Best of luck... and let us know how it goes.

First of all, not all companies are fluent in English. I'd seek a company that also optimizes for the English language market so you have someone to talk to. Also, they would know SEO better, since optimizing English sites requires more exquisite work.

Alternatively, you need someone who knows Russian to find and communicate with the companies. It'd be better if the someone knows SEO.

Also, most, if not all, people and companies optimizing for Yandex engage in link/review/post buying and don't really focus on producing content, providing value and building relationships with customers. At best, it is possible to notice that the page has been optimized. There are rare exceptions, however.

Edit: While the majority of Russian SEOs buy links and stuff, there's a clear movement to create sites for the people. This movement hasn't reached its peak, but in a couple of years it'll be as good as it is here.

It doesn't mean that everyone doesn't get results. It means your site visitors don't see much besides what you have created yourself, which may be not everything they wish for.

Here are several better companies you can try contacting:

Cheers.

To be fair to Russian SEOs, I edited my comment with this:
