I know of at least one free one. DigitalPoint has one at http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/
Many folks will tell you to monitor your log files to see where your visitors are coming from, instead of checking rankings. I agree with the notion of mining log files for all kinds of great info, but I also check rankings (despite the fact that many people think that's soooo 2003). In my case, many of my sites are seasonal, and are only active for a week each year, so if I waited to mine my log files to make decisions, the week would be over. Therefore, I have to make adjustments based on monitoring rankings throughout the year. But to get back to your sub-title question... What do I use? I personally use a tool that isn't free (Advanced Web Ranking) to keep track of the rankings that matter most to me. |

Here's one (if you don't have many to check)
http://www.googlerankings.com/ I also use DP's tool, that Donna recommended. |

Aaron Wall has one at SEObook.com, as well - a Firefox extension which can manage that for you. SEOBook Tools. At the moment, it's right at the top - you can't miss it.
I haven't toyed with it much, since I don't really track rankings, but it works. That's about all I can say! |

Right, they quit giving them away. Maybe you can find a friend to check for you occasionally.

That was fantastic feedback! I got myself started very nicely, I should say -- thanks to all of you. Except for seodigger (service temporarily unavailable), the rest of them worked.
Even http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ -- and yes, I was able to get a Google API key just a hour ago. The link to get the key is provided within the digitalpoint site itself. Once I received the key, I pasted it in the digitalpoint site and got an invalid Google API error. However, the site did accept my keywords and I can see the tabulated in a matrix at the foot of their page. Thanks again -- this forum is simply awesome! |
