my site's was created in dreamweaver and I initially created links useing the _blank target so they'd pop up in new browser windows when clicked.

I've since realized the errors of my ways and want to change the target to empty so when you click on them they're just like normal links ie you go the the links webpage without a popup.

Problem is I have more than a thousand such links to change and ideally don't want to change each one individually.

Is there any way to change all the links on the site or on a single page with one command or other method?

Use the DW find and replace function.

Do this:

Ctrl+F to open window.

In 'Find in' select 'entire site'.

In 'search for' select 'source code' and enter target="_blank" (this the code you want to remove).

Leave the 'replace with' box empty.

Click on 'replace all'.

Confirm and away you go - the whole site updated in seconds.

Wow.

Thanks a lot fisicx, you saved me hours of drudgery. Can't believe it was that simple, I've used the search and replace before but didn't think it could do that.

thanks again.

Glad to hear it worked curiousone. Find and replace is a wonderful tool for things like this. Just remember it can't be undone so if you;re about to do something you're a little iffy about make a copy of the site first.

Definitely Sanity,

paranoia when changing sitewide anything is a healthy thing i've learned the hard way:)

I always have a backup when doing that sort of stuff.
