I would like to direct your attention to a new project; the
Web-Beacon Internet Directory. http://web-beacon.com/ To learn how
this came to be about please refer to the press release at:
http://goguides.org/
We are very excited about this new project and have been busy
reorganizing and getting ready to accept editors and submissions. We
hope to have our editor application process functioning more smoothly
very shortly. Please bear with us during this beginning growth process.
We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Internet
community!

For the next couple of weeks while we are finishing our preparations we will be offering free submissions.

Do let us know when there's something there with regards to accepting editors and submissions, or at least a firm date as to when there will be. It's a bit of a non-event to those outside of GoGuides until then, really. Thanks for letting us know you're excited though. smile.gif

It appears if you have a listing with goguides.org, that listing has automatically been listed at web-beacon.com. Is that correct?

We are pleased to announce that starting immediately, we will be
accepting affiliate member and associate sites, as well as MLM
individual rep sites for inclusion in the Web-Beacon Directory.

These sites will be listed under the corresponding Corporate sites in
Business>Opportunities>MLM and
Business>Opportunities>Internet>Affiliates topics. These sites will be
listed different than other submissions. The title will be the company
name and the description will be the rep name and location, if
applicable. To reflect the difference in listing, the fee for this
service will be $7.50 instead of our regular fee.

We feel this service will benefit a great many people. We are going to
take the time it used to take 'banning' these sites and put it to a
more productive use, giving these sites the exposure needed.

All other rules of site submissions still apply. For example
pharmaceutical and tobacco sites selling products will not be included
in this project.

It's amazing the difference that monetization can bring to editorial standards, isn't it? smile.gif

I know that the ODP have always struggled with MLM and affiliate sites because they effectively represent endless front-ends for the same old products again and again.

However, from your monetized perspective, MLM now represents endless cash submisions, helping to fund the directory for all parties I guess. The more the merrier, eh? biggrin.gif

Fortunately in a directory the affiliate and MLM sites can be tucked away giving the user a choice as to whether they want to sort through endless sites with the same content. The bad part is unless they are excluded from the directories search function it will turn the search results into very poor quality results lowering the overall quality of the service as a whole.

I did a lot of work in the MLM category at ODP when it still held the rep sites, and I was sorry to see them go.

I have received enough depressing and angry emails over the years from affiliate members to suggest that this offer will go over very well. They want their sites listed and that service is now being offered to them at a reasonable cost.

We simply looked at the situation as it was and looked for a win-win solution for both parties. I feel both parties do benefit from this project..nothing wrong with that. smile.gif
