I'm happy to announce, on behalf of Kalena Jordan and WebRank Ltd, that an online SE college has been launched.

As an added bonus, it will also also offer various courses related to SEO, including one on web site usability, taught by me! (My first time doing this, so it ought to be interesting laugh.gif )

Press release - Search Engine College (PDF)

More about it in my blog entry for today - What Do Search Engines and User Centered Design Have in Common?

QUOTE
All courses offered by Search Engine College use a holistic approach to web site promotion, focusing on the importance of web site design, functionality and usability as well as search engine compatibility. Students can choose to participate in tutor-led courses or download a self-study course to take at their own pace.

The College is currently accepting student registrations for their first intake of search engine marketing courses commencing in June.

Since it's new, Kalena and gang will be very interested in feedback. I'll be helping there too. The site is new and you know how that all goes. If you take a look at the web site, something doesn't work, or you have any questions, feel free to contact Kal directly or ask them here and we'll try to get answers for ya.

These have been appearing a lot lately - must be the sixth I've come across this week. It has been quite a coincidence because I was rereading some stuff from Robin Nobles only last week, who, of course, practically founded the entire idea of the original Online SEO course - The ACWS (Academy of Web Speciacists) where Robin has long been the Director of Training. That goes back some years now, and indeed, I was honoured to be a guest speaker back in 2001 I believe. Nice to see the demand has grown so much since then. I'm sure Kal will do a great job.

I think its perfect timing for these types of courses to be given. SEM is so hot. And Kim, everyone in the SEM field is talking usability and conversion as a pre-req.

Well, I'm certainly an advocate of providing courses - was involved myself a couple of years back. wink-2.gif

Just heard from Kal that the usability course is being registered for already. I wondered, since the emphasis in the college is on SE and SEO. This is a positive sign that the usability message, and its relationship to SEO/SEM, is getting out there.

I think it speaks well for Kalena that she invited me to participate in this endeavor.

Ditto. Must be the new trend - a monetarised version of forums.

I think there's certainly a lot of room for good training resources.

It's good to have a course on SEO but won't the syllabus be outdated before the course has finished? wink-2.gif

In the end SEO's gonna be a fully automated monetary beast. It's just no-ones got the vision to build it yet!
