I recently put together a list of the various sites whose newsfeeds I subscribe to and added it to my site. I'm hoping as a result, anyone who stumbles across that list will:

1. Get themselves an aggregator and help make this a more mainstream technology. With any luck widespread adoption will lead to a single simple format for syndication, rather than the several incompatible ones in use now.

2. Someone will stumble upon a gem of a blog they hadn't found before and be inspired.

In the interests of sharing, I've added the list here. Does anyone else have any blogs whose feeds they subscribe to, especially in the webmaster field? If so, please do share :)

Nice list. I see some that I haven't seen before amongst some very good sites.

Thanks for the list.

I'm (re)starting to be careful with what I add and not. RSS is a convenient way to scan a lot of info, especially if your RSS reader can use filters. But one can hit the info overload soon enough again :-)

Thanks for that excellent list, by the way! Do you use M2 for your feed reading?

Naturally! I have several filters for RSS stuff too, to make the quantity easy to handle. Haven't ventured into learning filter territory yet with them, but plan to soon.

One problem with M2's aggregation is it doesn't understand Atom. However, there are some good tools out there you can use to convert an Atom feed to an RSS one :)

Adrian, how come that's index.rdf? Normally Opera will open newsfeeds or xml formats. I just see the code for that one. Help!

If you goto Mail --> Newsfeeds and click the New... button Barry, you can add it manually. I don't think Opera will display it in screen properly, rdf is a bit different to rss, though I'm not terribly sure in what ways. Probably means Opera isn't quite sure what to do with it.

Otherwise you could just visit his site at www.stuffandnonsense.co.uk. I've not really looked at the site before, but know of his ability from the Accessify Forums. I think he's a guy who's going to be rising quite quickly in blogging circles, his blogs not been going all that long as it is and you can already see the numbers of comments and therefore interest he's getting.

Greetings. I have been reading this forum for a month or so now and I really enjoy the content.

I see that people have mentioned using the M2 RSS reader, which is associated with the Opera browser. Are there any other RSS readers that people are using (standalone, web-based, or otherwise)? I am interested to start using this technology for the simple reason that I am curious how it will affect the amount of related links that I tend to follow off these websites, which in some cases ends up being more beneficial than the articles I read.

Thanks for all the help you have already provided me.

Scott - there are a few out there. Many people swear by FeedDemon, written by the same guy that wrote Homesite. There's a lot of web-based aggregators and open source ones too. Try to find one that understands both RSS and Atom if you can.

That's the nice thing about RSS, Wayne. Using a reader, or something like bloglines or kinja, can make it a lot easier to visit a lot of sites.

I was looking at a couple RSS readers, in particular Sage for FireFox. What I am curious about is what the RSS feeds look like in your particular RSS reader. Part of the reason that I go to these websites is to oogle at the design and functionality they have. Do you ever feel like you are missing something if you just scrape the site for information and leave behind the design?
