Assuming you're not stuck with some set of corporate colors, I have found that color groupings found in hybrid flowers are universally appealing.
I took my digital camera and snapped about 40 different photos of flowers and plants, particularly Hybrid Daylilies, many of which explode in about three major colors and beautiful highlights. Here's an example (Warning, Big File!) http://www.duckbutt....er/DSCN0844.JPG
White, Violet, Lemon Lime and Orange highlights. Sooo pretty.

Quite nice, though. Some of my favorite colors.

The image is gorgeous, though. Did you take the photo yourself?

What an interesting way to come up with a colour scheme for a website.

I'll pick out the multicolored ones and post them in the next few days.
Single color flowers don't quite give the palette like these multi-colored hybrids. Funny that.
With a single color (like a Marigold or a Mum), you have the color...and green. Impatiens can give you two, usually white, a color, and green.
I'm enamored of the hybrids because they give great contrasting and complimentary colors. I haven't seen a hybrid yet that I thought "Blech! Who picked those colors???" It's like flowers are genetically predisposed to not be ugly, even when going Pollack with the pigments.

"The overall forecast for 2003 is one of more muted, traditional and classic shades," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

On the other hand, while we can observe trends, and even create some of our own, Pantone would seem to be walking along the same path.
It's not so far-fetched. ;-)

It's also a great excuse to always have fresh flowers around. This is a wonderful way to come up with colors. I never thought of this, but now I am going to try.

These are smaller, but if you click on the thumbnail it will give you a 400x320, enough to sample colors in Photoshop.

Check out the bark - how's that for a color pallette of browns?

If anyone does something with these, post a link somewhere with the color scheme.

Have you guys tried to play with the hue settings in photoshop? i've put the flower of the first post in it and played with the hue/saturation settings... guess what? even more beautiful color combinations!
