I managed to sign up for the MSN adCenter with surprising ease. So far the interface looks pretty clean and setting up a campaign was straightforward. I'll let you all know how I find it.

I gather the sign up is only available for a short while so give it a whirl: https://adcenter.msn.com/Default.aspx

It doesn't say Beta but my understanding is the general sign up form would only be available for a limited time.

<added> Yup it's back to the pre sign-up page.

Thanks Sophie,

I was too slow at the gate. :) I will watch for a post on this topic, and next time will drop what I'm doing and just go ahead and sign up without any excuses such as, "well I'll just finish this first." Famous last words . . . :(

Do let us know how their service stacks up, won't you?

Doc

I will Doc.

I'm still waiting for ad approval at this stage.

So far I really like the interface, it's pretty intuitive. The keyword suggestion tools have also been surprisingly good.

I've read some complaints abut people having trouble in Firefox and IE 7 - I'm on IE 6 and so far so good.

Well so far I'm still waiting for my ads to be approved. I'm sure they're busy with an influx of advertisers but at least an ETA would be nice.

Hey Sophie (and anyone that might know)

Any word on when MSN is launching their publishers network?

Cheers

It's just that I'm getting sick of AdSense and its smart pricing pile of... :D

hi there,
right now there's actually a known issue on our end where in some cases, ads and keywords are running even though the adCenter tool says they're pending. so sanity, it's possible your ads might be running, if they are you should see impressions and clicks in the tool.

i don't have an eta on this, but we're working to fix it, and i'll let you know here when this is resolved.

also - eKstreme - we will have a publisher version of adCenter at some point, but i don't have a timeline yet. i'll let you know here when i know anything.

thanks,
adCenter411

Thanks for your reply adCenter411 and welcome BTW!

I had noticed my ads were running whilst saying they were pending so thanks for clearing that up. The program is still in beta so these things are bound to happen.

It would be really funny if adCenter411 was just a spoof. I guess we can't get a proof that easily.

Regardless, welcome to Cre8 adCenter411  We appreciate your direct input on questions like these.

adCenter411 is a real person, and is really from Microsoft. I had hoped to meet with adcenter411 during the recent New York SES but didn't get the chance.

Ah cool. This is great!

Just in case: Sorry if I came across the wrong way with my comment - I didn't mean to offend anyone. On the net, a touch of cynicism goes a long way.

No worries. :)

A rational skepticism can be a good thing.

It's difficult to tell who really is on the other side of a forum post.

I just got this email from the IRS:

After the last
annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that
you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $63.80. Please
submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to
process it.
A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example
submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.
To access the form for your tax refund,
please click here

Now I can retire to the island of my dreams. :)

Funny, the URL attached to that "click here" doesn't go back to the IRS.

hi everyone,
i have some MSN adCenter news to share with you. if you have any questions, please post them, and i'll try to answer as well as i can.

tomorrow (Wednesday, March 22) we'll be be raising adCenter traffic levels to 70%.

if you're an adCenter customer, you should start to see an impact to your campaigns beginning Thursday, March 23, however it may take several days to reach 70%. also, your budget may be impacted due to the increase, and, as more traffic is directed to adCenter, you should expect a decrease in traffic from your Yahoo! Search campaigns.

let me know if you have any questions. i'm excited to be part of this forum. :P

thanks,
adCenter411

hi again everyone,
more news for you...we have a release planned for tomorrow, 4/18/2006. during the release (6PM - 11PM Pacific time), adCenter will be unavailable. here's the official word:

This should not affect your existing data or campaigns, which will remain live during this time. However, you won't be able to access your account or its features while we update adCenter. We encourage you to make any needed immediate changes to your account beforehand.

if you're a current adCenter customer you should have received an email from us with some details about what's coming in this release. the item i'm most excited about is that you'll be able to copy and paste a list of keywords instead of typing them manually - i know this is a big pain point for a lot of you.

another thing we've heard from a lot of clients is that the parameters are a bit confusing, so the naming convention will be changed to be more intuitive. {param1} will be labeled Destination URL, and params 2 and 3 will be labeled Dynamic Text.

ok that's it for now, this is already a bit long. let me know if you have any questions, i'll be around. :D

thanks,
adCenter411
