Thanks for the reply. Moodle is great for an open system to develop online courses. However, it is far too complicated to hack for what I had in mind. I looked around the net and there is very little in existing software. There are a couple of sites offering hosted services etc.
I started hacking one from scratch. Most probably once I complete it I will stumble upon some great scripts!

Hi
I’m interested in this as well, so I’m gonna ask for clarification.
When you say exams – do you mean short tests with around 10-20 question.
What format would the exam/test take? Would it be multiple choice with automatic marked with: feed back, results (marks out of twenty) for example?

Hi Yannis,
I also need some system to build and provide online exams. Moodle is to complicated for what i really need.
Did you find or create some solution?
Thanks in advance,
Georgy

I'm unfamiliar with anything other than Moodle. With Moodle, it tracks grades, as well as who took exams and how many attempts there were. It's a fomplicated system to learn, I agree, but able to handle teaching online. I have an online course that relies on it. It was annoying for us tutors to learn, but I'm now grateful for all that it does and makes available for my students.

We eventually decided and build it from scratch. In retrospect in the long term it would have been better to stick with Moodle, but we wanted a quick solution and the requirements were very simple.
