Hi Everyone,

Would anyone know how to add negative keywords in Yahoo at the "ad group level" ? and also change all of the keywords and there match type at a "global level" ? or would you need to do this individually for each keyword/keyphrase ?

Thanks

Can you clarify what you mean by negative words? Not sure what the context is.

You should just be able to add the negative keywords the same way as you add the normal keywords?? Just put the minus in front of it..

-Free

etc.. etc..

Hi Respree & Lee,

Thanks for your responses. I added a few negative keywords putting the (-) infront of the keyword but by doing so it dosen't act as a negative keyword. It acts as a "Advanced Match Type". I think my terminology is mixed up, I think I should be adding "Excluded Words"

Thanks

Yes, Yahoo works different from AdWords.

In AdWords, you just add the keyword with a hypen before it (such as -free) and add it to your keyword list and it's automatically a negative keyword.

In Yahoo, it's a little bit more work. They are called excluded keywords. You don't use the hyphen, you just add them in the excluded box. You can have excluded keywords at the ad group level and you can also have excluded keywords at the account level which will be excluded from all your ad groups.

Hope that helps! :D

But how do you add additional excluded words in Yahoo to a pre-existing adgroup?

Just stumbled across this, and it was killing me too.

First make sure you're set to advanced search, the find the adgroup you want to add the excluded words.
Click on the Adgroup settings button, select tactical.
Under MatchType youíll see an option to [show] exclude keywords. This is a dropdown menu where you enter you exclude keywords in Yahoo.

Isn't that easy! :)
