Because of recent discussions about browsers here (I've Seen The Light - I'm With Chrome) and here (Firefox Is C***!), I thought I'd list the Firefox addons I use that keep me tied to it for daily work. Ok, not all of these are tied to work, but these are all the addons I have installed, nevertheless. What do you use and need?

The Firefox Addons I use:

CoLT (Copy Link Text)
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/1812
http://www.borngeek.com/firefox/colt/
Makes it easy to copy link text and locations in any of the following formats:
HTML Link
Plain Text
BBCode
Fusetalk
Wikipedia
Rich Text

Download Statusbar
https://addons.mozil...irefox/addon/26
http://downloadstatusbar.mozdev.org/
View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar
Also gets rid of the bug that uses up all the status bar real estate with a message that the Download only has a few seconds left - even though it finished ages ago.

Firesizer
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/5792
Provides a menu and status bar to resize the window dimensions to a specific size. Great for quickly changing to 800x600 and back again for testing, etc.

Foxyrank
http://www.vinylgroover.de/foxyrank
Link investigation tool
Great for SEO link analysis

Greasemonkey
https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/748
http://www.greasespot.net/
Manage userscripts.org userscripts; useful for a million reasons

LastPass
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/8542
https://lastpass.com/
Password manager in the cloud.

MeasureIt
https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/539
http://www.kevinfrei...ions/measureit/
Draw a box to get the pixel width and height of anything on a web page.

PermaTabs Mod
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/7816
Create non-closable tabs that stick around between sessions. Never accidentally close important tabs again.

SearchStatus
https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/321
http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/
SEO tool - swiss-army style, with lots of info - including the ability to Pinkify nofollow links and display PageRank, etc.

Speed Dial
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/4810
http://speeddial.uworks.net/
Display thumbnail screenshots of favorite sites in a tab for quick access

StumbleUpon Toolbar
https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/138
http://stumbleupons.com
So I can stumble, why else? :infinite-banana:

Web Developer
https://addons.mozil...irefox/addon/60
Tons of web developer tools - too many to list - indispensable

WhyDoWork.com Adsense Monitor
https://addons.mozil...fox/addon/12735
Monitor Google adsense earnings in the status bar

Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks)
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/2410
http://www.xmarks.com/
Backup and synchronize bookmarks between all my computers.

What I use and what I need are two different things with add-ons. I consider Firefox too bare without:

1) web developer toolbar (genius invention!)
2) colorzilla (colour picker)
3) noscript (blocks javascript, java, flash, etc)

However, in addition to these I use:

4) html validator (self explanatory)
5) chatzilla (irc client)
6) reminder fox (calendar/tasklist)
7) search status (google toolbar pr/alexa ranking)
8) stumbleupon toolbar (thumbs up!)

I used to have more but I got rid of a few that I could do without... e.g. I use a JavaScript bookmarklet instead of delicious toolbar.

Besides the ones already mentioned, some of my favorites are:

Firebug:
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/1843

Tab Mix Plus:
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/1122

Easy DragToGo:
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/6639

Unhide Passwords:
https://addons.mozil...refox/addon/462

Live HTTP Headers:
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/3829

XMarks:
https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/2410

Every time I use a non-Firefox browser, I find myself reaching for some tool that exists only as a Firefox plugin. It makes me crazy.

I don't have that much to add.

I don't like to have add-ons that do something that other add-ons are well capable of. That's why - for instance - I don't need the "Unhide passwords" one since the Web Developer Toolbar can already do that.

Nowadays, I'm using Tab Mix Plus instead of Tabbrowser Preferences. The latter isn't compatible with FF 3+. Mind you, I only upgraded from FF 2.0 because of Google Wave (doh!).

Apart from that, it's just Plain Text Links and All In One Gestures.

Oh, and since I'm working on this cheap-a$$ laptop now and again - with its tiny 1280x800 screen, I really NEED the Classic Compact theme. I really can't afford to have bulky icons and toolbars take up precious screen space.

P.S.: I've set sugarcodes as my search bar default. It's very clever and versatile: just add a "special" keyword to search using engines other than Google. For example [imdb die hard 4] searches IMDB directly, and [recipe scallops] scours the bbc recipe database for scallop treats.

Dang! I didn't even know that the WDT had that feature! It has so many, I keep discovering new ones. Okay, scratch Unhide Passwords off my Addons list.
