Just got this one, that came through the contact form (secured with capthca...):

We will enable your website to achieve top positions across all major
search engines at a very affordable price. Please send us URL of the
site you wish to increase traffic for, and we will get back to you
with all the details.

Top positions? Really, number 1?
All major search engines? How many are there now?
Send us your URL? You called me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've replied to a SEO spam email, asking for prices and what they were going to do. I've got no reply ;)

Next time, I'll just ask where to send the money :infinite-banana:

I like the word "enable".

Reading that you just KNOW you missed a hidden setting in wp-config.php.

<?php
define('GOOGLE_TOP_RANKING', TRUE);
define('ADSENSE_TOP_CASH', TRUE);
?>

But did it address you as: Hello, Dear?

I love it when they do that.

I never know what to write back ;)

"This is a one time request and I have no intention of emailing you again. If I made a mistake you can reply with REMOVE in the subject line."
... is also a weird combination.

Also, no, my about-page is not my site's "resource section."

Oh well, <archive> and move on.

Cheers
John

lol. They are a funny bunch. I guess its like any spam, a small percentage must reply.

Has anyone else seen a new one, they say that they have already added your link to their site, it is always in some sort of /resources directory. Obviously automated. At least, I assume it is. Crazy. Oh well.

I also got one from a company without a website. But they must be qualified because they managed register a gmail account (sarcasm intended).

Let us do the tedious SEO work for you. You know your business, we know SEO. Our rates are some of the most competitive in the industry.
We will put in writing that everything we do adheres to all ethical Search Engine Optimization guidelines. At a minimum you owe it to yourself and your business to reply to this email so I can send you more information.

I am reluctant to reply with something offensive because they will probably bombard me with even more spam or even set their scrapers loose.

Ask them to send you the list of the Ethical SEO Guidelines.
