I know a year ago Google local was having reviews disappearing. But I had 12, 13, then 17 reviews. It was very stable. But I just checked today and it at 12. What does this mean?? thanks.

Actually it turns out it all works except:
When I'm not logged in and I do a search, for a search term. the says 5 results instead of 23

If I'm logged in its ok.

That's interesting, Kevs.

Are you sure you're not dealing with duplicate Place Pages - one with 23 listings and one with 5?

I'ts ok today SEO, but yesterday, if logged out, said the incorrect number for a search result... who knows? thanks!

Are the reviews added through google or collated from other websites? If it's the later, maybe it's something the websites they are collected from do to effect it.

Reviews are one of the buggiest aspects of Places...especially Google-based reviews. Review counts can be all over the place from one day to the next (though I've not seen so great a disparity in count as what you saw yesterday, Kevs). When dealing with reviews that go missing in action, it's always a good idea to wait a few days and see if they come back before suspecting that something is actually wrong.

Thanks so much for linking to the Google Help Forum thread. There have been some really involved threads going on over there about issues with Places/Reviews in the last couple of days. My friend, Linda Buquet, of Catalyst eMarketing, has been trying to get feedback on an issue where editing profiles is making them LOSE data. Looks like Mike Blumenthal just weighed in on the review thread, too, with his well-known jewelry client.

There's a whole lot of shaking going on.
