I wanted the narrow widgets in the side bar to display side by side.
Does anyone have an idea?

Is there not another widget zone where you can put the widgets? Just guessing.

Yes there are several zones but none that will put the narrow ones side by side.

I looked again, after some time away from it, and I found that using the tertiary area works.

Glad I could help. Remember looking at a similar theme before and struggling to work out which zone went where.
