I'm exploring creating a site that would provide finance courses and lessons. Something like a codecademy for finance.

The key is the embedded spreadsheet on each lesson (much like the web-based code editor). There would be fill-in-the-blank, error fixing, and formula-building type problems and puzzles using the spreadsheet. Once the spreadsheet inputs have been submitted and verified is correct, the site moves on to the next lesson.


How difficult is something like this technically? (please bear with me, I'm non-technical)

For a non-technical person, on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the most difficult, this would be a 10.
For a good web developer, it would be a 4 or 5, I'd guess. Certainly doable.

Check out Moodle software. What you describe can likely be done with that software. I teach online at the Search Engine College and my students have assignments that I must see (via download), and quizzes...
