Google takes the wraps off project Glass. The project is so far over the heads of the tech obsessed, it may just be the biggest flop yet for Google.

For designers, it presents a new medium akin to the advent of the web. App design, information architecture, and the user interface take on new meaning. Be a distracting annoyance here, and people get hurt -- and worse. Exactly what's going to happen. You'll get Flash on steroids, not sci-fi. However, done right, augmented reality can be an important step towards the fusion of bits and atoms. (Don't worry, your grandkids will understand) It's the real promise terms like engagability and user experience design talk about -- but don't do.

Does the mobile version of your site look like this?

Does your PC look like a Motorola Goldeneye?

Sometimes I don't know what is real and what is part of an April Fool prank.

My understanding is that the concept is real, but it's still just a dream of Google's...Something they hope to achieve at some point, but haven't yet.

I read somewhere that they will be sold later this year for about $500... but still think that this is an April Fool.

Egol, have you ever played with a Wii? Or Microsoft Kinect? That kind of technology, 10 years ago, would have been labeled as an April Fool's joke. Now, again, the Google glasses thing is not yet a reality. That article you point out mentions that a lot - a futuristic vision that could very well come to fruition very soon - Have a peek at this demonstration (virtualized, of course) - even the title of the video says One Day. It's just a concept that they are working towards. But I think the possiiblity is very real. Some of the crazy stuff companies are doing with technology these days is mind blowing. True nevertheless.

Let me know when you get a pair.

I think that this is simply Google trying to push April Fools to the end of the month.
