I am putting together 301 redirects from one site to another.

In the blog I have individual post that include the title in the url.

The redirects are obvious in this case.  I just copy the post content to the new blog and forward the old page to the new one.

My problem is there are other urls that show up in the xml site map that seem to be duplicate and triplicate.

For example there might be a url  "/subject-post/"
Then there is a url with the date that calls the same post but just the first few sentences

Then also there is a url with a number like "page/3/" or "page/4/" and each of these pages have 3 individual posts including the ones with unique names.

I guess my question is do I try to make a 301 redirect from these pages that are not simply specific posts or should I let them die.

Hopefully the new blog will not be so fouled up.

Kill them - Those kinds of things should either be noindexed or canonical'd to somewhere else.

Thanks,

That is what I wanted to hear.  I could not imagine how a complicated web like that would improve a visitors experience.
I am hoping there is an option in my seo plugin to assign a no index tag to individual posts.

I wonder ...

I had intended on taking the old site with the funky urls down when I launch the new site and I was only going to leave a .htaccess in place with redirects to the corresponding pages or best match.

In that case should I just send the funky urls to the new blog home page, or should I not take the old site down and tag the problem urls individually with noindex and nofollow.
