Like many of you I use Twitter as a marketing tool in various different ways. One of those ways was to use the RRS feed output from "Twitter Search", which used to live over here at this URL: http://search.twitter.com/advanced - but when you go there now you see this message:
The Twitter REST API v1 is no longer active. Please migrate to API v1.1. https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1.1/overview
Which basically means - you're stuffed - no more RSS feeds from Twitter. AARRGGHH! However, there are some very bright people on the internet, and one of them is here: http://www.labnol.or...ss-feeds/27931/ - How To Get RSS Feeds For Twitter With Google Scripts.
It involves going to dev.twitter.com and creating a Twitter app. The most confusing part about all of this is when you log into this development website with your Twitter sign-in you are presented with a HUGE amount of data - none of which is relevant to actually creating an app!? Here's what you do - in the top right hand corner of the page where your Twitter icon is - use the drop down menu and click "Create An App" - and then follow the instructions on the original instructions. I spent about half an hour trying to find the "Create An App" link.... talk about USABILITY, eh?
Looking at other discussion places it seems that the destruction of the Twitter RSS feed was due to happen mid May, but I noticed it finally disappearing around 11th June.
So, there you have - no more RSS feed from Twitter - but a nice little, (if not slightly complicated), "workaround"
