I've been meaning to mention this for a couple of weeks, but better late than never.

Have you tried our very own Penguin Backlink Analysis and Disavow Tool?

It's free! (at least for now)

Even better, it's really good!

Here are some screenshots (had to blur out a lot of data to protect client info).

There's more that I haven't shown, but this should at least give you an idea of the type of info given.

Basically, you just upload the backlinks given in your Webmaster Tools and let the tool run the analysis. Of course, once you get the report listing Live Backlinks, Dead Backlinks, and a summary, you have the job of deciding the value of them all. So, it still takes a lot of manual work, but the tool helpfully provides links to Whois, Majestic, Wayback Machine and more to help you determine the value of each link.

The two checkboxes (Root and URL) let you choose which links should go into a disavow file, and then creates the file for you.

Love the tool! It was just one of many that I used for this particular client, but it was definitely useful. Just thought I should point it out in case anyone had overlooked it, among all the free tools we have here.

I'm giving it a run, but I thought I'd mention, the page your link goes to, down the page in the section.

Notes about "Dead and Live Links":
We this tool starts to analyze your backlinks,

I believe they meant When and not We, someone should go through it and clean up any other mistakes.

added:

Neat tool, few things I don't quite understand like the PDMSW if I click on the (P) I get a search for some payday loan.

all the others make sense.

Sum ting wong?

Just thought I'd confirm that we are looking into this :)

I assume the payday loan search has something to do with Google's Payday Loan algo: http://www.seroundta...algo-16917.html

This specifically aims to target more spammy like industries where the link building and spam tactics are more extreme

I guess if it shows results for that particular backlink, that's a bad thing, as it would mean the domain has payday loan content, and may not be trusted by G. But that's a total guess.

It would be nice to have clear explanations for these things on the tool itself.

I've used this tool several times on another site and my only complaint is there is a limit of once per week. I wish they would increase that or offer a paid version for those of us who are doing this analysis for others.
