Last night I attended WordCamp in Fraser Valley here in B.C. It was chaired by Gary Jones, of BlueFur, one of the sponsors of the event. Kulpreet Singh, one of our members, was one of the speakers. He described a recent similar session where he spoke in a thread on Wordpress Camp Vancouver. If you are into blogging and get the chance to attend such as session, I would heartily recommend it. The speakers were excellent and the audience of about a hundred people was lively and knowledgeable.

Surprisingly the #1 finding for me was that Vancouver is one of the real hubs for Twitter. I always liked the simplicity of Twitter and had never bothered to read the instructions. There is much more to Twitter than meets the eye. If you are interested check out The Official Twitter Commands. Twitter has now acquired Summize and just look at the Search Operators that are available.

Twitter is often described as micro-blogging. Perhaps it is time for a TwitterCamp.

Hi Barry,

It was great to finally meet you! I enjoyed the event last night.

I think the TwitterCamp is a great idea.

I would like to work on organizing another WordPress event - but this time a multi-session event with different sessions for different audiences. For example, a session for newbies, one for bloggers, and one for developers - each session with a few speakers. If anybody would like to help out, please contact me at kulpreetsingh [at] shaw [dot] ca.

You can read more about the event last night here:
