We all saw this one coming on a grander scale than what we can already see in SERPS.

It’s well known and understood that Ray Kurzweil is working at Google to create an AI that can understand you, your needs and most importantly to understand your context and anticipate those needs. Basically it’s an artificial intelligence that will ultimately replace search and be your assistant. Say hello to Allo. Allo features an AI assistant that learns from your interactions.

IS GOOGLE’S AI SEARCH NEAR?

Allo is Google’s new chat app that also includes an artificial intelligence assistant that eavesdrops on your chats (as well as listen to you) and can proactively suggest answers. It can answer queries within the context of a personal assistant. For example, if you tell it I want to eat a pizza, it can respond by providing you the phone numbers of local pizza restaurants.

That is all well and good BUT contrary to original statements will harvest, store, and use as they see fit everything you say and everywhere you go and as much of what you do as can be determined.

And will share with third parties.

Big privacy concerns too:  http://fortune.com/2...ogle-allo-nope/

I don't need anything anticipating/telling me what I want/need, to drive my car for me or to let me know what groceries are not in my fridge.

As a student of humanity, I am fully aware of the fact that the biggest cause of unhappiness in humans is our inability to know what it is that we actually want. If Google has actually figured out a way to teach a computer to learn what it is that we actually want, this could end all wars and bring universal joy and peace to the world.

Or then again, Allo could just go the way of Paper Clip Guy in MicroSoft Office - you know the guy - the one you turn off within the first 30 seconds of using the software.

It should but would not. There is only one thing which would end all wars.

I can't recall the article where I saw this and haven't found it on researching, but it is deeply difficult to disable location apps on an android, and if one tries to do so, Google incessantly annoys you with endless notices to reestablish location info.  Google defaults give google way too much info.  They horde the info.  Makes them even more powerful.

These are not good signs.   The original promise was to NOT save prior information.   Now the default is to save all of it.  I'm sorry I never agreed to have google looking over my shoulder every minute of every day, in my house, on the road, at work, etc etc etc.

It's really difficult to stop ALL location gathering in iPhone too. Really difficult.... and difficult to turn it back on again.

there are too many chat apps.

Google failed to build a popular social media platform, so now it is trying to build a chat one. That will probably fail too.
