Amazon Registry Services is excited to present .BOT — a new TLD

One TLD to rule them all, One TLD to find them, One TLD to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
If only.

The Ride of the Rohirrim as a DDoS attack is an unsettling perspective...

Feels strange to be cheering for Lord Sauron cum Bezos...
I think I need to have a lay down...

Note: of course the bots we most don't want won't so really nothing much will change.

Why?  Can someone explain this in easy to understand terms? Why/how does .bot benefit Amazon?    :manicure:

Good question. From what I can tell all the other TLDs were invented to open up a bunch of good names. All the good .COMs are being squatted on...   and who would want a .BOT. Guess this is why I made fun of it.

It would make sense if it were validated or enforced somehow if they could. Like .BANK but only to the real thing and be enforced with same vigour with which they enforce all the rules and penalties they have for regular people... and with a price tag of like 20M. No pass for anyone.

So anyone scraping without a .BOT TLD is banished somehow. Google included. Ain't gonna happen.

In this day and age meaning and interrogation are no longer important.
