Hi guys,

Appears I have been hit by the latest Google "Fred" update.

I need to check on any bad backlinks. Anyone know of a reputable, ideally free, bit of software that I can use?

Thanks

I'd use webmaster tools and I'd subscribe to ahrefs on a monthly plan.  Immediately after you get access unsubscribe.  You will have access for the one month only.  That is more than enough time for reviewing existing problematic links.

Then unsubscribe.  Otherwise they will continue to bill you month after month.

I tried it quickly. Signed up but with a sign up most data is still blocked. To get value it would appear it also requires a monthly fee.

I'm not aware of a strong free bl checker. Currently I see ahrefs as the highest volume reporter of bl, but they all report somewhat different results.

Was the Fred update related to backlinks though?

I read that it was about "ad heavy, low value content and affiliate sites."

Or was there another one more recently?
