I received an invite to try this and wondered if anyone has tried it and what their thoughts are.

Add a post on Google about your upcoming events, daily specials, and offers

Yep, I got that invite too. I didn't create any real posts, but added photos with descriptions. Least they didn't blow up the images like my others.

I don't have any events, nor put anything on sale. Reserve button?

What are they trying to accomplish with this? Benefits?

I use them for blog posts.  No real benefit outside of more images and branding.

I use them all the time too.  Have not tracked it at all.  Don't know if I can.

For smb's they show up in the Knowledge Panel (knowledge box).   We know the KP generates calls instead of clicks. We answer them.  We have been unnable to get any tracking on it.   Meanwhile the posts with a photo have good visibility within the KP.

Hmmm.   Possibly if you publish an outrageous photo you can track its effectiveness.  ;)

Yeah.  They last 1 week.

So if I use them and keep refreshing them with google it does the following:

A.  keeps me engaged with google.

B.  by being "engaged" they have more shots at getting me into adwords.  (that is what they want)

C.  I have NO Idea how often they are seen (except via some highly dubious google "stats" .   I have NO idea how often they are impacted.

D.  I could add a code or identifier of some sort to try and measure impact.  Who the hell knows.

It is Reasonably or significantly visible.  I assume it has some impact.   That is about it right now. I assume it "works".  That isn't much to go on.
