  1. I just got an email about this post asking if I had heard anything. Just wanted to give everyone that experiences similar problems an explanation, straight from AdWords: Thank you for your patience while we researched this issue. The keyword 'cpareferralid' (CPA Referral ID) that you see in your Analytics reports is a representation of traffic received by your website from your Pay Per Action campaign. And credit where credit's due, AdWords was pretty helpful and quick to respond on this particular issue.
  2. Didn't know if this was more Google or PPC, so I'm trying this category. Looking at a new client's google analytics account. It shows several hundred clicks on "cpareferralid" coming from google cpc. This looks like some sort of tag (the "id" ending), but it doesn't make sense that this would show up as a keyword that we're presumably paying money for. I checked their account to make sure - it's not being advertised on. I was half thinking this was some sort of Russian click fraud ring, but 99% of the clicks are coming from the US, not that we don't have click fraud here, too. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks!

  4. I've had problems just getting the html files on a msn platform to redirect to the new asp pages. Typically we do our work in php with mysql, but had to deal with server restrictions for this particular client. I can't get the redirects to actually work no matter what I've tried. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please let me know what information you'd need. Thank you very much in advance.

    Cannot Download On Ie7 Browser

    I can't speak specifically about GoMeeting, but I had a really weird experience the other day where pictures from one of our pages weren't showing at all in IE7, but were showing in Firefox and Netscape. About 30 minutes later, everything showed up fine in IE.

    Seo Education

    Great info! Thanks bragadocchio, Halfdeck, et al. I've always liked the look of captions, but haven't always taken the time to incorporate them. Seems pretty silly now given the added seo benefit.
  8. This morning, I noticed that there were several new leads for one of my clients coming from one of our paid search accounts for them. Normally this is good news. The only thing is that the account isn't active and we aren't paying for the click throughs. Normally, this is also good news. The only hang up is that the account was down while we were awaiting approval from my client's compliance department. So in this case, it's a bad thing. The YSM rep talked with her technical team after I showed her proof the ads were running. They said they had never seen this before, didn't know what caused it (yet), and were working to pull down the ads immediately. Has this ever happened to anyone before? If so, do you know a way of preventing it? I could just not put up a landing page, but YSM requires a landing page to approve ads. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    The final word on Yahoo directory

    Thanks for starting this post and the original link, sg1. It's an issue I can't make up my mind about and getting other professional opinions is a huge help. A question that I also left on linkbuildingblog for all here: Assume a new site and that you have decided it's worth it to do the submission cost. Does there come a point when it's no longer worth it to re-up? If so, when? Thanks again for everyone's previous posts and in advance for any light you can shed on my question.
  10. Great comments from all. At one company I worked for, we created 5-10 smaller sites about specific topics with the intention of being useful to the readers, who would be potential clients, which would help our sales staff. For many of the sites, we got good rankings for the specific topics, which sometimes, but not always, also led to good rankings for the main corporate site. This was a really useful way for us to deal with getting good rankings for a wide array of search terms, all of which I doubt I could have had as good results without using the other sites. One of the things I keep reading from other posters is that it comes down to intent, and I would agree with that based on my experience. If the sites you're building have useful content and would be good for people to read, there shouldn't be harm there.
