      20 Years! Cre8asiteforums 1998 - 2018   01/18/2018

Cre8asiteforums In Its 20th Year In case you didn't know, Internet Marketing Ninjas released many of the online forums they had acquired, such as WebmasterWorld, SEOChat, several DevShed properties and these forums back to their founders. You will notice a new user interface for Cre8asiteforums, the software was upgraded, and it was moved to a new server.  Founder, Kim Krause Berg, who was retained as forums Admin when the forums were sold, is the hotel manager here, with the help of long-time member, "iamlost" as backup. Kim is shouldering the expenses of keeping the place going, so if you have any inclination towards making a donation or putting up a banner, she is most appreciative of your financial support.

Facebooks New Advertising Module

Recommended Posts

Here's something that grinds me, and it's privacy related.

Here's the link

The new format, which is currently being tested with an ad for free chicken biscuit samples from Chick-fil-A, is the most integrated leadgen-style home page ad unit we’ve seen Facebook launch. Facebook has allowed third party researchers to place survey ads in the home page ad slot before, but with the the new “free sample” ad, the response form is presented in a popup over the News Feed, and users can easily propagate information they enter in the form to their profile and share their action with friends as well

The small print to the advertisement sample [see attachment]

"Your name and the information you provide above will be shared with the advertiser only for the purposes of sending this sample. Facebook is not affiliated with the advertiser of this product"

Now, what the heck is that supposed to mean? I'm going to take it apart.

  • "Your name" - that's first name and surname right?

  • "the information you provide above will be shared with the advertiser only for the purposes of sending this sample" - Who's guaranteeing that? Are Facebook saying that we should only receive one piece of publicity from this company and that afterwards there will be no further mailouts? Who's accepting the responsiblity for guaranteeing that the transmission of data to the company is secure when transmitted, used one time, and then deleted in the appropriate way?

  • "Facebook is not affiliated with the advertiser of this product" - Again this is misleading. There's an advertiser with Facebook, so although affiliation might not be explicit some degree of friendship and guidance there is.

What if the advertiser does not deliver on the promise.

You've

- Given Facebook your address

- Given up a personal preference for a type of food.

- Lost time.

- Embarassed yourself in front of your friends.

Does this stuff not grate with anyone else?

G.
