      20 Years! Cre8asiteforums 1998 - 2018   01/18/2018

Cre8asiteforums In Its 20th Year In case you didn't know, Internet Marketing Ninjas released many of the online forums they had acquired, such as WebmasterWorld, SEOChat, several DevShed properties and these forums back to their founders. You will notice a new user interface for Cre8asiteforums, the software was upgraded, and it was moved to a new server.  Founder, Kim Krause Berg, who was retained as forums Admin when the forums were sold, is the hotel manager here, with the help of long-time member, "iamlost" as backup. Kim is shouldering the expenses of keeping the place going, so if you have any inclination towards making a donation or putting up a banner, she is most appreciative of your financial support.

Is www.AzBestListings.com hurting people's eyes, feelings, or what. This site delivers great inventory of homes and a great to look for them in my opinion, but the bounce rate is sickly high. I want to get my bounce rate down into the 30s and then do whatever from that point to capture those leads and prospects. Any thoughts?

What traffic sources are giving high bounces?

For some keyword searches my bounce rate is very low, for other sources much higher. Break it down further then if it is all the "homes" and "houses" searches that are high BR then there may be a problem, if these are low, then maybe not!

Note: Topic moved from Web Design & Holistic Development to Website Hospital due to self-referencing site citation and for greater breadth of feedback.

Another two complimentary points to check are:

* given the search query or anchor/surrounding text of referer, page title/description as shown in search results is the page providing an answer, i.e. visitor gets information looked for, so visitor has no need to stay longer, investigate further?

* if above is no, is there an onpage link to such an answer/information?

---where on page, i.e. above or below the fold?

---how obvious is the surrounding and anchor text in grabbing attention directing the visitor?

Note: if there is both no ready answer and no link to satisfy the visitor then you might well consider adding it.

Do you target mobile traffic? That usually comes with an extremely high bounce rate.

Do you have one page in particular that is bouncing more than others?

Generally speaking, bounce rates are misleading ... your analytics tracking cannot capture the "last event" in the user's click-stream, so even a 100% bounce rate might fail to reflect user engagement with the site (they could be clicking on social media icons, for example -- I don't believe analytics tracks that kind of activity but I would be interested to learn how it does if it can).

I see it is from the old hosting service I had. They had property listings on here for long tail and those are not on here anymore. Still is there any thought on improving the site to get a better bounce rate?

No, it is not live there anymore- just live on google. the old hosting service is down. The finger prints are on google, so people are still clicking.

If the page with the analytics code isn't there anymore it won't register as a visit, unless they are going to a 404 page not found message instead? In which case redirect that somewhere appropriate so they don't click back.

You need to look as specifically as possible, so pick one individual page, then look at the keywords used to access that page, and then see which of those has the highest bounce - that will give you an idea of what they were looking for they didn't find. Sometimes you need to be even more specific than that, eg the mobiles, browser type, refering site, refering page as there might be something that's unique to those visitors eg a code problem.

Let me be brutal:

horrid design.

no indication from domain name or graphic identity what the website is about

having wordpress idents lowers the tone further (as it is WP just swap out with another template, buy one from themeforest.com)

advertising items break the design frame.

Tidy those elements up and your bounce rate will come down.

I will look Monday - Sunday of this week and see. :-) Also will having this search widget or what not on the page for searching does it show them actually moving around via my site or just that single one page, because it does not seem to take them off of the page to a new page. Then if it does not then do I need to focus on time on the site? Then what is a good time?
